Analogous studies of inelastic scattering reactions (p,p') and (d,d') [Ref.4] determined the location of the collective octupole state and one-phonon and two-phonon quadrupole states in nuclei throughout the Table of Nuclei, and gave estimates of the components of these collective states in the wave functions of numerous nuclear states.
As an example, Fig. 9 shows the locations and strengths (relative cross sections) of the principal electric quadrupole (2+) and octupole (3–) collective states in some of the even-even nuclei in the A=90-130 mass region.
