Existing graduate students have access to the Graduate Student Computer Lab, located in OEH 222. These machines can be accessed either through SSH or by using the consoles located in OEH 222. New graduate students will have computer accounts created for them shortly after they begins studies in the Department. Graduate students are permitted to obtain a key to this room and should inquire in the Department Main Office to do so.

  • All computers are dual-core Pentium IV machines
  • All computers run Scientific Linux 4.3 (a Red Hat Enterprise 4 derivative)
  • All computers are equppied with gcc 3.2 and gcc 4.0, providing access to:
    • g77 (FORTRAN 77 compiler)
    • g++ (C/C++ compiler from gcc 3.2)
    • gfortran (FORTRAN 90 compiler)
    • g++4 (C/C++ compiler from gcc 4.0)
