Dearest, I miss your pondering eyes set me astray. However, my torment is soon over because Sunday we will meet again in Coniston, a small town north-east of Hull, in the country of infinite flatness and windmills. It almost feels like home. A great country to practise the Bogle Stroll. We have four hikes, I hope that's enough for everybody's liking. 1) The horseshoe ridge, for whom hill tops are scratches on a bedpost. Up Wetherlam, around the ridge and off at the far side of the Old Man at Wanla Scar road. Depending on the time, a small detour to Great Carrs. Views in all directions. 18km, 1000m ascend 2) Up the front of the Old Man of Coniston, off the back, via the village Torver to Lake Coniston, and back to Coniston along the shore. A big climb to start with, but easier going for the rest of the way. Don't start too fast. 15km, 750m ascend 3) To The Tarns (lake), a bit of fields, a bit of forest, a bit of lake, and a bit of the Cumbria way. Exploring north of Coniston. 10km, 250m ascend 4) Along the shore of Lake Coniston and back through the fields and the feet of the hills, via Torver. 14km, 180m ascend Yours truly, the hikes organiser; de wandelmeester, Norbert
