Dearest, happiness seems to escape me. In the dark days before Christmas the candles are lit. Every time a warm feeling covers me like a blanket the fear of cold creeps under it and makes me shiver. However, I admit even a hypochondriac like me has his moments of happiness; the moments when there is no reason to move; the moments when the brain stops; the moments when future and past disappear. Anyway, I just want to wish everybody a happy Christmas. Forget the advertisements and remember mankind, it is the thought that counts. We meet at 9.00h to catch the train to Hebden Bridge. 1) Walking out of Hebden Bridge through the National Trust domain of the Hebden Valley, where the river flows through the forests. Ending up in the hills on the a bit of Pennine Way. Back through the valley of Golden Water. (17km, 550m ascent) 2) From Hebden Bridge southwards, high fields and hills. Some resevoirs and Stoodley Pike, brings us back to the canal which is followed back to Hebden Bridge. (13km, 350m ascent) 3) From Hebden Bridge straight up Crow Hill, following the hills around, in and out of the first valley, down to Hebden Bridge via Hebden Dale. (16km, 450m ascent) Yours, Norbert
