Dearest, When shall we meet again, in thunder, lightning, or in rain? The rain makes the world a cold place, and throws everybody back on their own devices. The heavenly tears wash away all warmth; turns flesh into wax. Heaven is warm, hell is hot, but our earthly dwelling place does not care for us. So, onwards we go. Your eyes stare blankly at the grey sky. The hooded procession grows silent as it goes over the hills. The world disappears behind curtains of water. We await the moment when we can cast off these wet coils; when we can look each other in the eyes without being punished from above; when we can soothe our tormented souls with beer and company. I love the rain. See you in Llangollen. 1) Follow a large portion of Offa's Dyke, starting from the A5104 junction at Pen-y-Stryt, via World's End, but further over the hills at down at Rock Farm. Contouring around the edge and straight into Llangollen. Views from above. (17km, 400m ascent) 2) Starting Ponderosa Pub (A542) before Horseshoe Pass, over the hills at the radiomast, down the gorge at World's End. Crossing the valley, via the ruin of the old Abbey, and the last bit along the canal. Views from above and below. (16km, 300m ascent) 3) Starting in Llangollen, along the canal, via the Abbey, up the edge at Rock Farm, crossing the hills into the next valley at Newtown Mountain, and back over the edge at Dinbren Isaf. (18km, 600m ascent) 4) A short stiff climb to the castle (ruin) overlooking Llangollen, down towards Trevor, via the forest, back along the canal. (15km, 250m ascent) Thanks to Gavin. Norbert
