Hi there, I'm looking forward to see all you luvvies on Sunday. At the moment the sky is blue and shadows glide over the hills in the distance. When I was young, my mummy told me I had a brain. Lately, I'm not so sure. I remember I had it when I was banging my head against the pretty tiles in the toilet on H-floor, in the main building. I hope nobody flushed my brain down the drain. Anyway, I'm looking for people who still got their brain and like to lead people up the garden path and into the hills. Talk to me if you're interested. (Some basic map, compass, and first aid skills are required, or to be learned.) And the day is: MALHAM, 12 October 1997 1) GORDALE SCAR The classic Malham walk, along the waterfall the valley of Gordale Scar, up to High Midge Hill for a view and down via the lake, Malham Tarn, and the Pennine Way. (14km, 300m ascent) 2) CAVES Over the moors, at Kirby Fell, to the edge of the Ribble valley near Settle, via Attermire Cave and Jubilee Cave, and back over the undulating hills at Gorbeck. The rocky valleys of Watlowes and Malham Cove just before Malham. (16km, 400m ascent) 3) WEETS TOP Starting at Malham Cove, turning west over Sheriff Hill, which brings us to Gordale Scar. At the end of the valley turning east again via the outlines of a roman camp, over the low hills southwards, and back via the river. (15km, 250m ascent) 4) MALHAM COVE A variation of the first walk. Ing Scar, instead of the Pennine Way after Malham Cove, touching the edge of Malham Tarn, turning east, (along Great Close Plantation) Gordale Scar and Janet Foss (waterfall), and back to Malham. (11km, 200m ascent) Yours truly, in eternal limbo, Norbert
