Duquesne Board Space Suggestions:

At the Duquesne symposium, students get a large vertical push-pin board space, and pins, to pin-up slides. Each student gets half the blackboard-sized bulletin board, as shown in this picture of Kyoo Jackson from summer 2001, so there is room for more slides than can fit on a posterboard. It is recommended that Pitt REU students prepare copies of slides on colored backings, as illustrated in this picture of Grace Schoonover from summer 2000, along with a large title slide, as illustrated in this picture of Justin Russel from Pitt summer 2000.

Presentation Suggestions

When planning research presentations, a few well-chosen figures are better than lots of writing; layout should be such that the viewer's eye follows the flow you intend; and the presentation will be clear if you have a clear idea of what your research is about.
