Getting to Campus from Pittsburgh International Airport
There is a Pittsburgh City bus ("PAT"--Port Authority Transit)
between Pittsburgh International Airport and the University of Pittsburgh
campus.
You should exit the Airport terminal at the main ground-level exit
(near baggage claim), to pick up the 28-X "Airport Flyer"
Bus. The 28-X picks up directly outside the main Airport
"Ground Transportation" exit and runs approximately every 20 minutes,
depending on time of day. There are many other shuttle buses that pick
up at the same location, so make sure you board the 28-X.
You will pay as you board the bus. The fare will be $2.25. You will need exact change.
As you board, you can tell the driver you want the Forbes Avenue
and Bigelow Boulevard stop, and you can ask the driver to call out just
before that stop.
The bus ride from the Airport to Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard
will take approximately 45 minutes.
When you disembark, you will be on the southern side of Forbes Avenue,
directly in front of the Law School Building. With your back to the Law
Building, look to your right. You will see an elevated walkway suspended above Forbes
Avenue which you can access using the concrete
stairs just in front of the Police Mini-Station. Take the walkway across
Forbes Avenue. When you exit the walkway, you will briefly pass across
the outdoor concrete patio of the
Litchfield Towers. Enter the
Litchfield Towers
lobby and check-in at the University Housing/I.D. Center, "Panther Central", that you
will plainly see to your right as soon as you enter the Towers Lobby.
The University of Pittsburgh Housing/I.D. Center number is:
(412) 383-6752 [Note: In the Pittsburgh region, you
must dial the area code, even if calling locally from within Pittsburgh].
