WIYN 3.5m WHIRC Observing Report for 2012/11/2 Summary: A successful night observing 11 supernovae, one comet, and the Persson Standard P161D Observer: Anja Weyant Telescope Operator: David Summers Conditions: Mostly Clear, cloudless sky Moon at 83% illumination 15 deg C. 55% humidity. Wind speed 5-10 mph. Summary of observations on 2012/10/28: Name | J,H --------------------------------- SN2012et | 25,19 CSS121006:2325854...| x,41 LSQ12fhs | 28,16 CSS121009:011101... | 34,50 2012fr | 3,3 2012fk | 16,16 LSQ12fuk | 9,9 LSQ12fmx | 32,50 PSNJ07250042... | 9,10 PS1-12bwh | 9,16 SN2012fm | 9,10 Comet168P | 5,5,4 P161D | 3,3 Took J,H,Ks flats on/off. Kept _every_ exposure taken. Forgot to take out WTTM slide so the first set of flats in H with the lamp on are not good. Notes: * 0.5 hours of time spent on DD/ToO observations of Comet 168P on behalf of Rachel Stevenson. * Target was offset E by 50". Exposure times were 60s in J and H and 40s in K. * Used 2x2_30arcsec dither script in each filter. * I had 15 minutes left at the end of the night so I decided to observe the nearby Persson Standard P161D *I tested and used Michael's dither scripts 4x4grid_20arcsec.obs and 5x5grid_15arcsec.obs. The other dither pattern used during the night was the 3x3_30arcsec. If the exposure was longer than 25 minutes I used a different dither script so I did not have to perform an offset. The exceptions are CSS121009:... and LSQ12fmx for which I ran two 5x5_15" in a row in H *A few times there was a mechanical problem with the dither move and guide star and we lost guiding. It only happened in a few images. * Seeing ranged from 0.4-0.9" in J,H. * 573 images taken * I always leave the imgtype as "Object" unless I am taking flats.
